Rev. Dr. Donald E. Simpkins

BOARD VICE CHAIR

Rev. Dr.  Donald E. Simpkins is a devoted, anointed servant of the Lord, who possesses a pastor’s heart and a deep burden for the body of Christ.  He has a great desire to see sinners come to a saving knowledge of Christ and believers edified and strengthened.

    

He is happily married to the former Dr. Pamela D. McCrea of Baltimore, Maryland.  Their over 35th year marital union has been enriched by the birth of their four children, Dawn Nicole, Amber Cherise, Daniel and Michael Anthony and one granddaughter Jordan.  The family resides in Woodbridge, Virginia.

 

He states that he found all that he was searching for, when he was isus Christ.  He received Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and Lord on January 12, 1979, while serving in the U. S. Marine Corps.  Since his conversion he has served the Lord in many capacities in serve to the Lord.  He was licensed to preach the gospel by the First Baptist Church of Foxchase, Alexandria, Virginia under the tutelage of Rev. Jeffery Wheeler.  He was ordained by the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church of Alexandria, Virginia under the pastorate of Rev. Dr. Harry J. Pilson. 

 

He matriculated at the University of Wyoming, Laramie, Wyoming and Mott Community College of Flint Michigan. He received his theological training at the oldest African American Seminary in Washington, D.C., the Wilbur Waters School of Religion and Theological Seminary, obtaining the Doctor of Divinity Degree.

 

On August 19, 2000, Dr. Simpkins began his pastorate of the Macedonia Baptist Church, Flint Hill, VA, which was organized in 1865, as her fifth spiritual leader.  During his pastorate the church’s membership has increased in number and spiritual maturity, the facilities have been completely modernized and a positive impact has been made in the surrounding community. 

 

As a retired Federal Government Employee, he has devoted his time to pastoral duties and volunteer service.  He served six years as a chaplain for the Federal Government.  He is a member of the Northern Virginia Baptist Association where he has served as Moderator.  He is a former President of the Baptist Minster’s Conference of Northern Virginia and Vicinity and the former Chairman of the Board of the Northern Virginia Baptist Center, located in Gainesville, Virginia.  He serves on the John Leland Center for Theological Studies, Ministerial Advisory Board as well as the Executive Board of the Wilbur H. Waters School of Religion and Theological Seminary.  He has also served as member of the General Board of the Baptist General State Convention of Virginia.  He also has served on the Fairfax Clergy and Leadership Council as well as Fairfax County HIV/AIDS Clergy Council.

 

Having a burden for people, Dr. Simpkins is concerned about the spiritual, physical, social, political, economic and emotion welfare of all people, but especially African Americans.  To this cause, he has dedicated his life to strengthening the family, church and community through Christian love and service.
